We welcomed over 10 prospective Rotarians to our Club today!!
A Sterling Story - Greg Hummel from Bryan Cave provided us with a view of Sterling's last 15 years of economic turmoil and rebirth and a peek into the future as the City looks to redevelop the riverfront. Phase 1 is a 20 acre site of the former NWSW Plant 1 that is being converted to parks and green space. Grant money has been received, dirt is being moved, trees are being planted and the area is physically looking different. Phase 2 concerns the former Stanley/National and Lawrence Brothers sites. Greg talked about the plans there including adaptive reuse for some of the buildings. Vision for the One First Avenue building includes "place making" for use by entrepreneurs and small businesses as a possible workforce development innovation center. Greg addressed various financing methods as a means for further development and the need for tenants to occupy the properties once development takes place. We thank Greg for a informative program!
Touchdown for Ta-Ta's flag football event to be held this Saturday at Roscoe Eads field. The goal is to raise $35,000 to help those fighting breast cancer. All proceeds stay local. This is the third year for this successful event.

2. Once you have your guest speaker lined up for the meeting program, please email Russ Siefken at russ@essex1.com so that it can be included in the eBulletin. Also, please ask the speaker to stay as close as possible to the microphone when speaking.
3. Please park at the YWCA or by Grummert's, not in a Sterling Federal Bank lot.
4. Think of who you can invite to a meeting as a potential new member.
5. If you have to leave early from the meeting, please apologize in advance to the speaker so that he/she does not think that you were walking out on him/her.
6. Please sit closer to the front of the room than to the back. And try to site with the new members whenever you can....get to know them....make them feel welcome.
7. Whenever you host a student guest, as you are chatting with him/her over lunch, please tell them about our club. Tell them what Rotary is all about. Tell them what to expect during the meeting; the opening, fun & frolic, boots & shoes, etc. Tell him/her about local and international service projects that Rotary is involved with. Make them feel welcome.
